Increasing Accessibilty

Remediating "Stratified: A Tale of Neighbors in New York"

In trying to more adequately address inequality on West 16th Street, I still felt as though I needed to do more. In repurposing my original piece, I tried to make my ideas around inequalities on West 15th street more accessible to everyday people in New York, primarily, and then to others who find interest in the topic, as my periphery audience.

But, how could I really reach the members of the neighborhood? Certainly, they do not all read the New York Times. And on top of that, I can't really use the New York Times header if I am to disseminate my work, meaning it will be even harder to reach out to all those whom I want to reach.

And so, my project was in need of a remediation to a medium more accessible and easily disseminated. I thought a website could do just this.

In this website, "Getting Involved In Your Neighborhood; Lower Chelsea, Manhattan," I create  an interactive guide to this neighborhood - of some of the places and the players who have influence on the neighborhod.

The website seeks to portray the neighborhood as a narrative of many pieces coming together with the potential create positive economic and social change for everyone in the neighborhood, while emphasizing the importance of constituents to do their part in speaking up for their beleifs.

It represents, for me, the further abilities of writing as disseminating ideas and opportunities. It was a relatively unprecendented endeavor me, but a project I hope can have a real and tangible impact on the lives of members of my neighborhood.

I've embedded the website below. Feel free to check it out on a separate websitepage by clicking here.
